WHAT IS GOING ON |
|
As you may have been able to figure out by the ladders and paint cans lying about, we have started painting the exterior. It has taken a few days to get this far, but better than I expected. I want to take this time to thank the important people who have donated time and effort to help get us this far into the project. I wish to thank Josh Satern, Burton Satern, and Ron Ridl for taking the time to fix the steeple. I would like to thank the men and women who took the time to clean the church, I know it took several buckets of soap and water and a lot of old fashioned elbow grease. I would like to thank all who have donated cash which went for the efforts in restoring the church. Thank you to Burton Satern, Selmer Severson, Ted Rohde, and Ron Ridl

for tackling the job of bracing the basement wall. I want to thank also those who have taken the time to scrape and paint the exterior, those involved were Selmer Severson, Burton Satern, Diane Rohde, Harold and Clarine Ruud, and Ann and Ron Ridl. We still have some to go, so if you have an hour to spare, that could make a difference. We were fortunate to have found a friend at Thompsons Paint and Glass in Devils Lake which helped us by donating the carpet on the front steps and giving us such a great deal on paint and supplies. The Cemetery Board has turned money |
over to us as well which is in the form of donations for the building from several people. Frayne Berg Insurance donated $200.00, Jayne Brown, $20.00; Allen Smaage, $20.00; Ryan Satern, $50.00; S. G. Satern, $100.00; Mr. And Mrs. Dennis S. Satern, $50.00; Mr. and Mrs. Burton Satern, $50.00; Roland C. Opsahl $25.00; and Avis Aamodt, $100.00. Thank you to all others who have donated to this cause. Clarine and Harold Ruud, thank you for paying for the cost of the boom truck rental.

Small church, BIG recognition |
| As you may have heard some of the commotion around the town centers around us and Center Church. The New York Times was in North Dakota and wanted to see us. The time did not let the reporter Patricia Brown see for herself the church, how ever, the photographer did. Ron and I met Patricia in Sibley and had lunch with her and Dale Bentley from PND.

It was surreal to have such recognition. The article should be out within a week or two and can be found on the internet. Also if anyone saw Fridays news at ten on channel 11, you would have seen Clarine and myself being interviewed and great photos of the church. So we can move mountains, however small we are.
